Apple Photos sorts everything by date and leaves the rest to you. Forty thousand pictures later, the one you need is somewhere between a receipt and a sunset.
SnapGun files each photo as you take it. It gets a numbered folder, a name you can read, and whatever details matter to you.

A full camera with flash, timer, grid, tap-to-focus, zoom and exposure. Start a session like roof inspection elm st and every shot goes to it.

Fill in your own fields as you go: client, room, stage, part number, anything. Fields can stay set between shots, so you type them once.
File
SnapGun numbers the folder, names every file to match, and uploads it to Dropbox. Apple Photos gets a copy too, unless you turn that off.

Every folder gets the next number in line, and every file inside carries the folder's name and its own count. You can sort them, search them, and hand them to someone who has never seen the app.

Before you ask.
Does SnapGun replace Apple Photos?
No. It works alongside it. SnapGun can read your whole Photos library and save a copy of every new shot to Photos. What it adds is the organization Photos doesn't have: numbered folders, readable file names and your own fields.
Where are my photos stored?
Wherever you choose: a Dropbox folder you pick, Apple Photos, or both. The files in Dropbox are ordinary folders and images that you own, and any file browser can open them.
Will it rename photos already in my Photos library?
No. Apple doesn't let apps rename photos inside the Photos library, and SnapGun leaves your existing library as it is. The numbered names are used on the files SnapGun files to Dropbox.
Do my custom fields sync between iPhone and Mac?
Yes. Fields are stored in SnapGun's own database, separate from Apple's captions and keywords, so the same details show on both devices.
When does it launch, and what will it cost?
